Design Project 2
Healthcare challenge:
Design of a system for sterilizing surgical tools
For project 2, I had the pleasure of working with a new team and with a new team comes new responsibilities. We were, instructed to assign new administrative positions for each team member for project 2, which is different from our prior role in the first project. I was assigned the manager role, and I was in charge of completing a preliminary Gantt Chart, creating weekly agendas, leading team meetings and TA evaluations. Project 2 was split into two components, writing a program for a robotic arm and modelling an effective container to hold surgical tools. To conquer both tasks, my team divided into two sub-teams: computing and modelling. I chose to be part of the computing sub-team and worked alongside my teammate, Grace. Our main objective for the project was to design a solution for sterilizing surgical tools using a robotic arm. For the computing-sub team, we were, required to write a code that can complete this task through the feedback of muscle sensors attached to the arm of the operator. As for the modelling sub-team, they were, required to design a container that transports the surgical instrument safely and securely to the right autoclave to be sterilized.
